He spent much of the 2007–08 season with the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League, averaging 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, before going abroad to join collegiate teammate Nate Funk with Eisbären Bremerhaven of the German Basketball Bundesliga.

Following a stint in Germany which saw him average 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, he was signed by the San Antonio Spurs in July 2008. After another trip to Europe and the D-League, Anthony Toliver ended up on the Golden State Warriors. During the 2009-2010 season with the Golden State Warriors, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

In the 2010 off-season, Tolliver joined the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two year deal worth $4.5 million.
