My Favorite Timberwolves fan: Ricky Rubio

Everyone, meet Ricky Rubio. Ricky Rubio, meet everyone. Ricky Rubio was born October 21, 1990 in Barcelona, Spain. Oooo, romantic. From an early age, Ricky Rubio was a basketball star and at the age of 15 he became the youngest player to play in the Spanish ACB League. Ricky Rubio despite being so young has played for several Spanish Professional Teams. Ricky Rubio started playing Spanish professional basketball for DKV Joventut. While playing with Joventut, Ricky Rubio received several awards including the 2008 Mr. Europa Award.

Ricky Rubio entered the 2009 NBA Draft and was drafted as the 5th overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ricky Rubio was the first player who was born in the 1990s to be drafted into the NBA. The day after the draft, Ricky Rubio’s father announced that he would likely stay in Spain for one more season to avoid they buy-out with his DKV Joventut contract. The rest of the summer was marked with debates of would he or would he not be coming to Minnesota.

At the end of the summer of 2009, Ricky Rubio announced that he was not going to be coming to play on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster. Rubio came to play with the Timberwolves in the 2011-2012 season.

Timberwolves Looking at MarShon Brooks in NBA Draft

According to the Daily News, the Nets have been involved in discussions of a trade that would send MarShon Brooks to the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves have shown interest in the third-year guard out from Providence. They have done this by calling around the league for feedback and initiating trade discussions about him. Talks have not escalated to anything serious or imminent at the moment, according to a source. However, another source said that a proposal is on the table waiting for the Timberwolves' approval.

The Nets pick 22nd in the draft Thursday. The Timberwolves pick 26th.

We'll keep you updated with all the draft updates, in the meantime keep an eye on MarShon Brooks!

Timberwolves will play against an Israeli team

The Maccabi Bazan Haifa team

The Minnesota Timberwolves often host preseason basketball games, what makes this year special is that one game will be against an international team. On October 16, the Timberwolves are playing the Maccabi Bazan Haifa team from Israel, marking the first time the Minnesota Timberwolves have ever played a non-American team in Minnesota. A couple years ago they traveled to Turkey to play a Turkish team, but they have never been the host before.

I know I can't wait to see how the Timberwolves stack up against an international league, but what about you? Do you want to see the Timberwolves play more international games? Against who? Or should we just stick to the NBA?

If you can read Hebrew, you can read more about the team here (I think...).

Rubio voted runner up for the NBA Rookie of the Year award

We all know the Minnesota Timberwolves are awesome, but I guess I missed this announcement!

Last week, Ricky Rubio was voted second place for the NBA Rookie of the Year award. Even with an injury that knocked him out of the end of his first season, Rubio has drawn positive attention to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Of course, he's always been expected to play well - he was chosen fifth overall in the 2009 draft. When he came back after playing in Spain for two years, he definitely lived up to the hype.

Rubio lost to Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Congrats, Rubio!
