Timberwolves Looking at MarShon Brooks in NBA Draft

According to the Daily News, the Nets have been involved in discussions of a trade that would send MarShon Brooks to the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves have shown interest in the third-year guard out from Providence. They have done this by calling around the league for feedback and initiating trade discussions about him. Talks have not escalated to anything serious or imminent at the moment, according to a source. However, another source said that a proposal is on the table waiting for the Timberwolves' approval.

The Nets pick 22nd in the draft Thursday. The Timberwolves pick 26th.

Timberwolves Season Almost Over, I am Ready to Look Ahead

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won exactly two games in the month of March – TWO! I just keep asking myself "is the season over yet?" The answer is almost. There are only 5 home games left, ten games total.

I am already looking ahead to next season and I am sure the Timberwolves owner and organization is doing the same. My big question is what will Glen Taylor do to bring this team back from extinction? I don’t think an exciting draft pick will be enough. I don’t think cheap ticket prices will be enough. I don’t think a new mascot or a new jersey will be enough.

I think a new head coach may be enough to at least get people to care and then some consecutive Target Center victories will be essential in getting the fan base back. Think about how well that equation worked for Gopher Basketball team – Tubby + Victories = FAN SUPPORT and SOLD OUT BARN.

Anyone think Flip Saunders could be running the Timberwolves clipboard next year? Please someone help us.

Timberwolves at Target Center

The Minnesota Timberwolves will make their Target Center pre-season debut tomorrow night so I thought now was as good a time as any to start this Timberwolves blog back up.

So far the Wolves have been strong in the pre-season, winning 5 out of 6 games. Tomorrow night at the Target Center should be an exciting night for Timberwolves fans as the Wolves take on the Chicago Bulls. It will be the first chance us Minnesotans have had to see the new team live on the hardwood. I am betting the crowd will go nuts for Mike Miller and Kevin Love. I am betting that Randy Foye will draw his fair share of fans as well and don’t forget about the big man Al Jefferson. It will be nice to see those guys back on the Target Center court. I am looking forward to an improved Minnesota Timberwolves season.

Minnesota Timberwolves News

It has been a slow Minnesota Timberwolves news week. One of my customers who knows I have a Timberwolves blog asked me what my thoughts were for next season and I ho-hum told him, “more of the same.” I am dreading the thought that it may be a direct repeat of this past season. He has Minnesota Timberwolves season tickets and was thinking of just giving them up. I don’t blame him, but I know he is a mega NBA basketball fan and won’t be bailing on his hometown team…unlike me. I think I only went to about 4 games last season, that’s not very many for a Timberwolves fan who takes the time to write a Timberwolves blog! Anyway, check back next week (Wed or Thurs, I just can’t commit to either day – therapy could help) for new and improved Minnesota Timberwolves news!

Timberwolves hope to improve next year

Ok, after reading my Timberwolves post title the first thought, is “duh.” Of course the Timberwolves want to improve next year. My main point of this post is how much will the Wolves improve?

Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said he thinks the team will improve with 20 more wins next year. That is a pretty bold statement considering he doesn’t have any solid plans on how they are going to do it. Sure the roster will change…a little...but so will everyone else’s in the NBA. The key players won’t change and McHale said he has no plans to make a coaching change. So what is going to be different about next years Timberwolves team that they will be able to win 42 games? More experience? I suppose a little, but that might get you 5 more games max.

My thoughts, throw the coach under the bus. I just don’t think Randy Wittman is the guy to coach these youngsters. I think a change at head coach could shake things up enough to get a few more wins on the board. Any thoughts Timberwolves fans?

Timberwolves Beat Bucks, Finish on Happy Note

If you look over my past Timberwolves Basketball blog posts, you can almost feel the up and down roller coaster emotions of this Minnesota Timberwolves season. It seems one week I am praising for better effort and improved winning streaks and the next week I am disgusted with a lack of fourth quarter effort and losing streaks.

The Timberwolves did manage to beat the Milwaukee Bucks last night 110-101 in overtime thanks to Randy Foye who had a couple of three pointers that put the nail in the Bucks coffin.

The Wolves ended the season 22-60 and tied for the third worst record in the NBA. Ick. What else can you say?
