The Minnesota Timberwolves lost a nailbiter to the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-117 in overtime. It was another one of those close games that the team couldn't close out and get the victory. Kevin Durant had a career night - 47 points and 18 rebounds. Kevin Love had another spectacular night, with 31 points and 21 rebounds. Michael Beasley had 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in a near triple double. The Timberwolves missed a chance with a tie game on the line at the end of regulation. Kevin Love's hook shot just rimmed in and out. In overtime, Corey Brewer's missed free throw resulted in a Luke Ridnour 3 point attempt. He missed and the game was over.
On Wednesday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder 111 to 104. It was another case of the inability to finish the games, aka against the Spurs and Knicks. The Minnesota Timberwolves were up as much as 40 to 22. Unfortunately, the Oklahoma City Thunder knew how to finish and went on a spree, winning by 7. The Timberwolves are clearly much better than last season - but they need to finish games in order to get those hard-earned victories. Kevin Love had 22 points and 21 rebounds. Tonight, the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Detroit Pistons.
Earlier this season, Darko Milicic was clearly struggling. He was missing shoots and not doing enough on the glass for a 7'1 player. However, the last 2 games, Darko has played significantly better. Against the Los Angeles Lakers last Friday, Darko Milicic had 23 points, 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 5 assists. On Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Darko had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. The glaring stats are the back-to-back 20 point games. It doesn't make up for the poor games earlier in the season but it is a reason to be optimistic. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!
Michael Beasley has scored 35, 25, 28, 33, and 25 in his last 5 games. For the season, he has averaged 22.4 points. He has been the most reliable scorer thus far and hopefully can continue to keep up the scoring streak. If Michael Beasley wants to score, he can score. He is a talented player and just needs to use that motivation that he was worth the #2 overall pick. Michael Beasley and Kevin Love make for a good front court duo. The Minnesota Timberwolves play the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight in Oklahoma City.
