Minnesota Timberwolves Front Office says goodbye to Fred Hoiberg

Fred Hoiberg the mayor as a player at Iowa State Univeristy The Minnesota Timberwolves front office said goodbye to Fred Hoiberg, a former NBA rising star who had his career cut short due to a heart injury. Just this season, Fred Hoiberg had been down on the floor helping Corey Brewer come back from an injury.
It was then Fred Hoiberg told press that he realized he wanted back into the action of the game. If he couldn't play anymore he wanted to coach. Then fate stepped in, Fred Hoiberg was approached by Iowa State (his Alma mater) to be the new head coach for the Varsity Men's Iowa State Cyclones Basketball team. A hometown hero in Ames, Iowa, locals call Fed Hoiberg "The Mayor" and could not be happier that the former Cyclone Star will be back in cardinal and gold.

Although he had minimal contact with the Minnesota Timberwolves roster, Twolves players will miss his strong work-ethic and dedication to them as well as the game. Congratulations Mr. Mayor! Glen Taylor Sick

I heard a story (I won’t call it a rumor because it could be true) that Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is ill – I mean like heart attack ill and that is why no head coaching decision has been made. My source didn’t have a ton of details, but what if?

Any one else here this Glen Taylor story? Timberwolves office has been pretty quiet this week.

Timberwolves will replace McHale

Ok, my blog post title could be a little misleading (you were thinking new head coach, right?), but I personally have been waiting for this announcement (text courtesy Star Trib):

“Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor plans to hire a basketball personnel decision-maker to replace former vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale and predicts it will be "sooner rather than later" in the time between next week's regular-season finish and the June 25 draft.”

The Timberwolves need a GOOD DECISION maker if this team has any hope of NBA survival. McHale was not the right guy for the job – he may be an OK coach, but he did not (does not) have the player selection strategy talents that the team needs.

I haven’t heard a lot of rumbling about McHale coming back next year as the head coach – what are the odds? 3:1 ?
