Timberwolves Select Corey Brewer

The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Florida's Corey Brewer in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft. Brewer, selected seventh overall, is a 6’ 9” forward from Florida. Last season, he averaged a career-best 13.2 points per game as the Gators repeated as national champions. Brewer has played three years with the Gators where he has started 106 of 108 games. "Corey is a versatile player who plays well on both ends of the basketball court," said Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale. "As a two-time champion in college and the 2007 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, he comes with a winning background and plenty of experience in big games. He's a great addition to our young core of talent."

Corey Brewer plays great defense and is already all over the Timberwolves web site. The wolves will use Brewer as the young face of great things to come and as a another tool to sell Timberwolves Tickets. Brewer will wear Minnesota Timberwolves jersey number 22 since his college #2 is retired thanks to Minnesota great Malik Sealy. Although Corey Brewer won’t make his first official Timberwolves appearance in Minnesota until Friday afternoon, the former Florida Gator forward spoke to the media in a conference call just minutes after being selected as the seventh overall pick. Brewer commented on being scooped up by the Timberwolves by saying, “I’m looking forward to playing in Minnesota but I’m not looking forward to those winters!”

Timberwolves fans hope that Corey Brewer will add spark to a Wolves team that definitely needs a jump start! Let’s go Wolves!
