Minnesota Timberwolves Sign Darko Milic and Nikola Pekovic

New Minnesota Timberwolf Nikola PekovicThe NBA Free Agency period began on July 1, 2010. If you were hiding under a rock or were unable to find ESPN on your television in the last two weeks, then you wouldn't have known this. The Free Agent class of 2010 includes LeBron James, D'Wayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki, Joe Johnson, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, David Lee, and Rudy Gay. On the eve of the Free Agent extravaganza, it was the Minnesota Timberwolves who made the first big splash.

Shortly after the midnight starting time, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed their 2nd round pick from the 2008 draft, Nikola Pekovic. Some scouts claim Pekovic could have gone Top 10 had he been in this year's NBA Draft, so the prospect has talent. Pekovic is a 24 year old center from Montenegro that was chosen with the first pick in the second round of the 2008 draft. It was claimed that some teams were hesitant about Pekovic's buyout situation with his European club. Pekovic signed a 3 year $13 million dollar deal with the Timberwolves.

After signing Pekovic, General Manager David Kahn turned his attention to center Darko Milic. Darko finished the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves last year and Kahn was pleased with the labeled bust's performance. Darko agreed to a 4 year $20 million dollar deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This gives Minnesota two talented centers that will bring intense defense.
