The Minnesota Timberwolves will have to fight for a playoff spot without Nikola Pekovic because of bone spurs in his right ankle. Pekovic will be out of commission until at least Friday.Pekovic missed the final two games of the road trip and the home game at the Target Center against Denver. He will also miss Memphis and Charlotte, but hopes to return in time to greet the Celtics on Friday.
Pekovic is averaging 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds this season.
The bone spurs are a lingering result from the ankle injuries he had as a young tyke. There is the potential for surgery correcting the problem during the off season.
