Get Out Your Broom

Because if you watched the 2nd round of this year's NBA Playoffs, you would have seen three out of the four series end in sweeps. The Suns, Lakers, and Magic swept the Spurs, Jazz, and Hawks respectively. What does this say about the product? It says that the NBA is too top heavy of a league. In the NBA, the league enters each season with 3-4 teams that everyone knows are the only ones with a chance to win a title. This year that list includes the Los Angeles Laker, the Orlando Magic, the Boston Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Teams in the league spent the last couple of years dumping salary so that they could be able to sign free agents from the highly touted 2010 free agent market. Outside of the Thunder-Laker first round series, all the series have been laughers. In order for the NBA to be able to compete with the NFL and MLB, they need to find a way for their to be more parody in the league.

NBA Playoffs Update.. who is hot and who is going to end up where the Timberwolves are

Round one of the NBA Playoffs is over and round two is under-way, with injuries and upsets it is hard to say exactly how things are going to end up. I have found I'm having a hard time predicting games, I have to admit that during the regular NBA Season I have total tunnel vision... I watch the Minnesota Timberwolves games and really only play attention to how they are playing. Perhaps, I need to take a more wide-spread approach to being a basketball fan or perhaps I should just watch a few more highlight reels.

HOWEVER, just because I can't predict NBA Playoffs games, does not mean that you all should suffer from my lack of talent.. So I went straight to the source and got my information from the experts.

Round 1 Results:
Lakers beat Oklahoma City Thunder
San Antonio Spurs beat Dallas Mavericks
Phoenix Suns beat Portland
Utah Jazz beats Denver
Cleveland beats Chicago Bulls
Orlando Magic beats Charlotte Bobcats

Round 2 Match-ups:

San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns... My money is on the Spurs, they played a strong first game and the Suns are looking tired

Lakers vs. Jazz... I'm torn here, but because I secretly love them a little, I'm going to go with the Lakers

Cleveland Cavs vs. Boston Celtics... My bet is Boston, although they are one and one in the 2nd round, Boston is experienced in the play-offs and knows how to pull through in high pressure situations

Atlanta vs. Orlando Magic... With a blow out first game, I'm going to go with the Magic

NBA Playoffs in Full Swing

Despite my original protest of the NBA Playoffs because I was so pissed at the Minnesota Timberwolves for screwing up their season and not having a shot at the playoffs, I have found myself sucked in. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for tournament play and high-stakes games... and you all know we didn't see very many of those this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

For those of you loyal Timberwolves Fans who have also stopped caring about the NBA Season now that the Timberwolves are done, here is a quick update of the NBA Playoff Series as Round One comes to a close tonight. Check back next week for my picks for round two!

Timberwolves Roster changes in puzzling ways

I am never quite sure I understand Kevin McHale. I don’t think any one does. I don’t slam him as often as other Timberwolves fans and Timberwolves bloggers do, but if he has a plan for this team, I am not sure what it is and I would like to know.

Yesterday, the Timberwolves confirmed that they worked out a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers that moved Rodney Carney and Calvin Booth to the Timberwolves. It was a weird exchange and if you want to read about it, you will have to check out the local paper because I am in no mood to explain it. What I would like explained to me is “why?” Neither of these players will make a difference on the Timberwolves team next year. Is McHale building an arsenal of players he can trade away for one big guy? If that is the case, some one needs to explain that to the fans because I am losing interest really fast. A group of no namers plus Al Jefferson are not going to win the NBA Championship, they just aren’t. They are going to get stomped on and thrown around. We need bigger guys. I think it is time for Glen Taylor to think about making more changes than just what is on the roster sheet. McHale needs to go and he can take Randy with him. If we are starting fresh with new players, why not start with new managers, too.

The offseason should be a time of hope, but I am stuck in despair.

Kevin Garnett makes the NBA Playoffs, thanks to a better managed team

Watching Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics in the NBA Playoffs makes you think about the past failures of the Minnesota Timberwolves organization. Let’s face it, without Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics are the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dreadful. So that means that Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge built the Celtics into a powerhouse in one year. Kevin McHale had 12 years to get the job done and failed miserably. Chew on that, Wolves fans.

I stumbled onto an excellent site for figuring out how far out of the NBA Playoffs the Minnesota Timberwolves are. It prevents me from having to scour the St. Paul Pioneer Press sports page and compare all of the NBA team records. The page actually updates instantly after each game ends. TIMBERWOLVES CAN'T DECIDE IF THEY ARE GOOD

The Minnesota Timberwolves can't decide if they are a good NBA team or an awful NBA team. They played an inspired game versus the Los Angeles Lakers and won by ten points in double overtime. The victory was bitter-sweet. On one hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled within a couple games of the last playoff spot. On the other hand, with every victory, the Minnesota Timberwolves are further screwing up their draft pick in next years NBA draft. At this point, I can't decide if I want the Timberwolves to be an awful NBA team and get a top ten draft pick or be a good team and make it to the NBA Playoffs. I am at the point where I am going to just flip a coin.
