Timberwolves fans are bound to still love Kevin Garnett

With few victories to cheer about this season, Minnesota Timberwolves fans are looking elsewhere for reasons to be excited. One of those reasons could be the arrival of Kevin Garnett at the Target Center on February 8. Garnett will return to Minneapolis with his Boston Celtics in a showdown with his former team. The Wolves aren’t expected to compete with the streaking Celtics, who boast a sparkling record, but the return of Garnett will be sure to draw applause from fans who miss Garnett’s trademark baseline fading jumper, even if it will be against the Wolves rather than for them.

This year for the Timberwolves has been a tale of two franchises. With the trading of Kevin Garnett for basically half of the Boston Celtics’ roster, the two teams have gone in opposite directions. The Wolves, who with Garnett had two sub- .500 seasons before trading him in the off-season, gave up on the notion of winning once again with Garnett. Apparently, what Garnett needed was a change of scenery, because he has flourished with superstar teammates Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Putting these players together was not only a good idea on paper, because the Boston Celtics are handily defeating just about everyone in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Celtics have only gone straight to the top of the standings with Garnett, while the Timberwolves have only gone straight to the cellar without him.

The big Boston Celtics Timberwolves match-up at the Target Center is next week!
