Kahn stays calm

David Kahn at a press conference
With the NBA summer league in full swing, it is surprising that David Kahn can sit in a hotel room in Las Vegas, where the Minnesota Timberwolves are staying and interview so calmly. Yet from all appearances that seems to be the case. Kahn spent time this week talking to several different sports writers and commentators on what the fate of the Timberwolves would be.

Objective 1: Ricky Rubio, the 18-year old Spaniard who has plagued Kahn and the Timberwolves with drama since his signing is still negotiating with his European team and while the Timberwolves certainly want him, Rubio's family is less than excited about coming to the frigid winters of the Midwest and while they are making a list of complaints they are also not pleased that another point guard, Johnny Flynn was also drafted. Yet Kahn does not seem to be bothered, he is willing to wait telling one reporter, "I need to be very patient about this and we are the rare team that can wait.”

Objective 2: Find a coach, the Timberwolves are the only team in the NBA to be without a coach and it is rumored that the list of candidates is 15 or more, yet again Kahn does not seem worried. Rather he acknowledges that he needs to find the right person and that rushing the decision could adversely effect the entire tone of the game.

With 2 big "To-Do's" on the list for David Kahn it is not surprising that he is eager to return to Minneapolis and get down to work, but for now he and his players are enjoying summer league and Vegas, as they should.

I just read an article that made it seem as if Rubio was getting ready to say Adios, to his Spanish team... objective one complete? on to objective 2?
