Mark Blount will not play for the Timberwolves

After signing Mark Blount to the Timberwolves roster only a month ago, the Timberwolves announced in a press conference on Wednesday that the 9-year NBA veteran who was slated to play center for the Timberwolves will not be coming to Minnesota or joining the Twolves roster.

The announcement was said to be mutual. The Timberwolves gave Blount's agent permission to start shopping him to other teams where he would see a considerable amount more of game time. Blount will remain in his Miami home while this search for a team goes on.

David Kahn told the press, "I want to thank Mark for being understanding of our situation of having such a young team, and in particular many young big men that need playing time for their development. Given these circumstances, it would be extremely difficult to find a significant role for Mark, and he deserves the opportunity to be a part of someone's rotation for the upcoming season."

Timberwolves writers and critics are guessing that by eliminating veterans like Blount and Quentin Richardson, who Blount was traded for, David Kahn and Timberwolves Head Coach Kurt Rambis are planning on playing the very young roster that includes Jonny Flynn quite a bit. Perhaps in an attempt to give these rookies the experience they need to be a championship winning team in the next 2-3 seasons.
