Minnesota Timberwolves Acquire Anthony Randolph & Eddy Curry

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Corey Brewer and Kosta Koufus away for Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry for the New York Knicks earlier this week. Randolph has been a player that David Kahn has coveted for awhile now as it has been well-documented. He is long and athletic, which Kahn admires. He has potential, yet that is exactly what it is right now, potential. Randolph needs to turn his potential into talent, proving he can be a solid player in this league.

Brewer was traded to the New York Knicks while Koufus went to the Denver Nuggets in the 3-team trade. Oh, and if you didn't hear, Carmelo Anthony was involved in the trade to the Knicks. Randolph averaged 11 points a season ago for the Golden State Warriors, who drafted him out of LSU. He is still young, at age 21. Let's see if Randolph can live up to his potential. The team is expected to payout Eddy Curry's contract.

Minnesota Timberwolves Rumored in 3 Team Trade

I was working out yesterday in the gym when across ESPN came a headline "Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks rumored in 3 team trade." I figured right away it was probably something to do with Carmelo Anthony, which it was. The rumor has it that Minnesota would depart with Corey Brewer and a 1st Round Pick and receive Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph from the New York Knicks. Brewer and the pick would go to Denver. My initial reaction: I'm sure we would buy out Curry, but giving up a 1st and Brewer for Randolph seems a little much. I know Randolph is talented but can he really make a significant impact for us? For some reason I see a lot of Martell Webster in his game. I would be suprised if this deal follows through.

Random Jottings

Kind of a slow day in the offseason for NBA news. Here are some random jottings:

-Happy birthday Kevin Love, who turned 22 today

-Team USA beat Angola 121-66 and Love had 8 points and 6 boards

-Spain beat Greece 80-72, with Ricky Rubio registering 6 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal

-Spain will play Serbia in the round of 16, who Timberwolf 2010 draft pick Nemanja Bjelica plays for

-Jonny Flynn is off his crutches and started pool workouts

-Haven't heard anything new on the Carmelo Anthony front

Carmelo Anthony to the Minnesota Timberwolves?

According to a member of Hoops Hype, a rumor has been circulating that Carmelo Anthony could be possibly traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, or New Jersey Nets. It has been well documented about Anthony's possible departure and unwillingness to sign an extension with the Denver Nuggets.

Early reports believed he was headed to the New York Knicks. Whether there is any steam or not behind this, it does make any Timberwolf wonder how Anthony would fit here and our first "superstar" since KG. I think it's a longshot based on the assumption Anthony would not want to sign an extension, but it is tempting to wonder the package it would take to lure him here and how much excitement it could bring.

Minnesota Timberwolves take on Denver Nuggets and Jonny Flynn comes face to face with Syracuse teammate

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a big week coming up. Wednesday November 25th the Minnesota Timberwolves and rookie Jonny Flynn take on the Denver Nuggets and old Syracuse teammate Carmelo Anthony.

Jonny Flynn and Carmelo Anthony both spent lots of time at the top of the Syracuse Roster in terms of performance, since joining the NBA they both have also felt what it is like to be at the bottom of the heap. Flynn and the Timberwolves really could use a win right now, as the holiday's near fan support is starting to fade as the Wolves post lost after lost.

If the T-Wolves and Jonny Flynn intend to make it to the end of the season with anyone left in the seats of the Target Center, they are going to have to start playing better. Perhaps since they spent time as teammates Jonny Flynn will know how to beat Carmelo Anthony at his own game!
