Kevin Love's Streak Comes to an End

The Kevin Love Double-Double streak came to an end on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors. The streak reached 53 games, the highest streak in the last 40 years. Klove should be proud of himself for reaching such a high accomplishment even with the team struggling this season. In the game that his streak was snapped, the Timberwolves fell to the Warriors by a score of 100-77. It was an ugly 2nd half for the Timberwolves, as a close game got blown wide open. The Timberwolves were on a 2 game winning streak before the Warriors snapped it. Next up is at the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

Minnesota Timberwolves Win In a Shootout, 126-123 over Golden State Warriors

249 points. That's how many points were scored at the Target Center on Sunday afternoon in regulation. The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors 126-123 in one of the best games to watch all season. Kevin Love, like usual, led the way with 37 points and 23 rebounds. It was his 46th double-double in a row. Think about that again. 46 double-doubles in a row. Unreal. Furthermore, he only took 13 shots to achieve his 37 points. He went 18 of 23 from the free throw line, having a career night from the line. Michael Beasley chipped in 25 points and Wes Johnson had a fantastic game, adding 17 points and 7 rebounds.

Golden State Warriors 104, Minnesota Timberwolves 94

The Minnesota Timberwolves fell at home to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. Kevin Love notched his 4th 20 point-20 rebound game of the season. He finished with 21 points and 22 rebounds. After a 3 point lead at the half for the Wolves, the Golden State Warriors used a 36-17 3rd quarter to take the lead and never look back. Monta Ellis finished with 26 points, 10 assists, 7 steals, and 4 rebounds. Michael Beasley finished with 28 points and 9 rebounds. The Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. Timberwolves Beat the Jazz

Well, I was wrong about my Timberwolves Jazz score. I should have checked the roster report before I shoot off my mouth because the Jazz were without starters Andrei Kirilenko (injured) and Mehmet Okur (ill). It was the second time in five weeks that the Timberwovles beat the Jazz, I just couldn’t believe that they would be able to do that this season. I am glad the Wolves proved me wrong and they have been proving my Timberwolves quarter joke wrong the last few weeks as well.

The Wolves lost eight of the first 13 times they led going into the fourth quarter this season. They now have won the past four games in which they led after three quarters and are 10-4 in that category since winning at Golden State on January 21st.

Way to improve Wolves! Let’s hope the end of the season chemistry we are seeing on the Timberwolves team can carry over to next year.

Timberwolves win on road, have another chance at winning streak

The biggest news in Timberwolves land is that the team won Monday afternoon. On the road. Truly, this is a rare occurrence this season. The Minnesota Timberwolves earned only their second road victory this season in a matchup with the Golden State Warriors. It was hard fought, well-deserved and a long time in the coming. The Wolves beat the Warriors 109-108.

Ryan Gomes stepped into a leadership role that could bode greater activity from the gifted young scorer. He scored 35 points on 11-15 shooting from the field and 11-12 shooting from the line. I think Gomes has to keep shooting while not worrying if he is off the mark for stretches at a time. He has more of a scorer’s body than Rashad McCants, and I would rather see Gomes shooting than McCants. Al Jefferson also contributed big down the stretch, scoring 15 of his 21 points in the second half. The Timberwolves will finish 2007 with a 5 game road trip. So far the Minnesota Timberwolves have lost two of the five games losing to the New Orleans Hornets 76-110 and then barely losing to the Golden State Warriors 101-105. The last three games of the year will be against the Portland Trailblazers, Seattle SuperSonics and the Los Angeles Clippers. Timberwolves lose again

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost their sixth game in a row last night to the Golden State Warriors 87-91 at the Target Center Minneapolis. I think Warrior Al Harrington pegged the Wolves right when he said,

"When you're a young team, you come out with a lot of energy and start making shots, but when a veteran team decides to shut you down on defense, you lose your confidence…”

The Timberwolves have been looking great in the first half and then completely fall apart in the second half, particularly the fourth quarter. I wish I was better at stats because I would love to run the win loss scenario for the Timberwolves season thus far if you counted the halftime score as the final score. I bet the Wolves are better than .500 or at least better than “the worst team in the league.” Next up for the Wolves is another Target Center home game against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.
