A Letter To the Cleveland Cavaliers

Dear Cleveland Cavaliers,

Hi, congrats on landing the greatest basketball player in the world today, that doesn’t happen very often for most teams.

Anyway, so hey, now with Kyrie and LeBron, you guys are one super star away from having your very own Big Three. So I was thinking, the Timberwolves have their very own disgruntled super star by the name of Kevin Love. Meanwhile, you guys have this ultra talented kid by the name of Andrew Wiggins. The first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, if my facts are correct.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

It would benefit everybody to swap Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins. I don’t know how it would line up contractually, but throw in a vet guy with a big contract and the only person you would have to give up is Wiggins. Keep Waiters and Thompson. AND FOR PETE SAKES KEEP ANTHONY BENNET OFF A BASKETBALL COURT (jk lol you guys, if you want to throw him in you can. I’d be more than happy enough to take a flyer on him).

Now picks would be a sweet cherry on top, but hey, I’m a nice down on his luck T-Wolves fan looking for any glimmer of hope I can get. And Andrew Wiggins would provide this franchise with its biggest glimmer of hope yet (or at least since Ricky Rubio came over).

In conclusion, I think it's a deal you should really think about. Remember it would be benefit everybody.

Sincerely,

P.S.

Flip, if you somehow wind up reading this (which is highly unlikely I know), and you trade K-Love to the Cavs without getting Wiggins back. I swear… I won’t even. This will be my reaction:

According to Forbes.com, the most hated NBA players are...

1. Kris Humphries (Nets)
2. LeBron James (Heat)
3. Kobe Bryant (Lakers)
4. Tony Parker (Spurs)
5. Metta World Peace (Lakers)
6. Chris Bosh (Heat)
7. Carmelo Anthony (Knicks)
8. Paul Pierce (Col 2)
9. Dwayne Wade (Heat)
10. Lamar Odom (Mavericks)

Coincidentally, Kim Kardashian was recently named the celebrity with the worst manners. Sounds like they deserve each other.

NBA Finals and What it Means for the Wolves

There isn't much going on in Wolves Nation, so I'm going to blog about the NBA Finals and the beginning of the offseason.

The NBA Finals wrapped up on Sunday night just as the clock struck 10 central time and what a Final it was. I, personally, was rooting for the Mavs, not just because I hate the Heat. Sure, I hate the Heat. Everyone hates the Heat and I would have been heart broken if LeBron had won the championship after telling everyone he would. There are no short cuts to a championship LeBron. You clearly were not ready for this moment. There is no other way to explain your shortcomings in these playoffs. His 7 point differential between the Finals and the regular season is the largest in history. Maybe next year, LeChoke.

Don't blame the Heat for losing this series because the Mavs won the series. They won it with their grit, ability to play zone defense, and abilities to make huge plays down the stretch. Don't forget coach Rick Carlisles ability to make all the right decisions. He knew exactly when to play the zone and made a critical decision by making JJ Barea the starter in game 4, which forever shifted the series. His dribble penetration gave the starters a much needed boost in the first quarters. Dirk Nowitzki made every single big play down the stretch, with one back breaking fadeaway after another. Dirk stepped on the Heat's throats in the fourth quarter, and that's why they are champions.

What does this mean for the Wolves? In an era of "Super teams" where players are all buddys and teaming together to try to win championships, the Mavs proved you could win a championship with one true superstar and a bunch of high quality players. This is great news for the Wolves since they're never going to be able to lure a ton of big time free agents to this frozen tundra, but if they build a team the right way, they might have a shot at this thing. The big key will be finding that super star, and then putting high quality pieces around him. I think we have some high quality pieces, but I'm not sure we have the super star yet. Hopefully Love, Rubio, or Williams (we better draft him) can provide that.

April Fool's Day: Miami Heat Visit the Target Center

Miami Thrice On Friday, March 31st, the Miami Heat will make their sole appearance at the Target Center. It just so happens to fall on April Fool's Day, kind of ironic you could say. The Miami Heat boast of course perhaps the greatest super team ever assembled - D'Wayne Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. All 3 are All-Stars and Olympians. They currently boast a 51-23 record, just 2 1/2 games behind Chicago.

If you want to see three of the best players in the NBA, then it would be worth getting tickets for this game. LeBron James, D'Wayne Wade, and Chris Bosh is a good enough reason to head to this game, aka the "Miami Thrice".

Kevin Love MVP Consideration?

Kevin LoveIt's December 10th. Kevin Love is currently averaging 20 points and 15 rebounds. Look at that stat for a second. 20 and 15? In this day in age? That is an outstanding statistic, one that hasn't been reached since Moses Malone in 1982-1983. He could be on pace for a historic season. As a Minnesota Timberwolves fan, Kevin Love is a treat to watch. He is already the #2nd best Minnesota Timberwolves player in franchise history, in my humble opinion. Wally was solid, Marbury was nice, Cassell and Sprewell were outstanding for that season, but Kevin Love is as consistent as they come. At this point, he deserves to make the NBA All-Star Team and COULD be in discussion for MVP. Of course, that hinders on how the team is also doing which will most likely hurt him against Kobe, Durant, and LeBron.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Miami Heat

Chris Bosh, LeBron James, D'Wayne WadeThe Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Miami Heat on Tuesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. The Heat are 2-1 while the Timberwolves are 1-2. The two teams only play each other twice this season, so the next time they will meet won't be until April 1, 2011. Of course, the Miami Heat boast the three-headed monster of Chris Bosh, D'Wayne Wade, and LeBron James. It will be interesting to see if the Minnesota Timberwolves can hang with the Miami Heat.

Michael Beasley Saying all the Right Things

Michael BeasleyMichael Beasley probably had quite the night when LeBron James announced he was going to play for the Miami Heat. Immediately after "The Decision" in which James told the world where he was going, Michael Beasley was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves to free up money and fill the rest of the roster. Since arriving to Minnesota, Beasley has said all the right things. He has claimed he wants to resurrect his career (even though he is 21!), is out to prove that he is an NBA elite player, and believes him and Kevin Love can definitely play well together. Also, he claimed the Timberwolves "are a team to beat". I like Beasley's attitude already.

LeBron One Man Show, Why isn’t Garnett?

I think some analyst on an episode of NBA Fastbreak on ESPN said something about LeBron James being a “Batman without a Robin” because he doesn’t have a Scottie Pippen like Michael Jordan had. Nobody on the Cleveland Cavaliers team even comes close to being LeBron James’ sidekick. So does Kevin Garnett have a sidekick if he is the Minnesota Timberwolves “Batman?” I say no. So why can’t Kevin Garnett make it to the NBA Finals much less the playoffs as LeBron James has accomplished this year? Is James that much greater of a player than Garnett in that he led his team over the Detroit Pistons? I don’t know if I can compare Garnett and James, but if you polled the nation right now, I’m guessing just about everybody would say James is a more valuable player. It doesn’t help Garnett’s cause that he is mired in the powerhouse stacked Western Conference while LeBron floats free in the summer-league competition of the East. I’m not trying to call Kevin Garnett a better player than LeBron James and I’m not trying to defend him for not having success without a supporting cast because I think he does have a decent supporting cast. I just wish I could see some of the success that LeBron is having come the way of our superstar in Minnesota.
